Kirk Holifield Memorial

This was not an easy assignment to photograph. The day that you become immune to feeling emotion at these kind of events is probably the day to put down the camera, it was very emotional and I felt for everyone there. ISO 3200, which means b &w. -Brett.

Over 600 people came to the Riverside Banquet Hall in Richmond Friday afternoon to pay their respects to Kirk Holifield, who was killed in a targeted shooting on Westminster Highway January 11th.

Hi there,

I am a close friend of Chris and Jennifer Barrett and was of Kirk. I was surfing around looking at articals posted about Kirk, and looking at photographs from his life when I found your site. I was looking at what everyone wrote and posted when I came across some errors in your post.

In your second photograph, that is not Christopher Barrett, like the newspaper said... he's not balding. And it hurts us family and friends to see that you have taken such touching photos... but write things like "targeted attack," and "targeted murder"... I don't know if it's too long ago to be changed... or whether or not you care, but those are, mistakes that need to be changed.

Thank you for your time and great efforts at his funeral, and thank you for the respect that you have paid. It is greatly appreicated by many. Even though it was a hard day there for us, it is nice to have photos to remember what we were there to remember.

Hello, I was just listening to the CBC podcast with the interview with Kirk's father and widow. I am 34, a Canadian currently living overseas, and cannot imagine how such an event would be to deal with, let alone what a shame it is for such a good guy to have his life cut so short. You have my heartfelt sympathies and I hope everyone rallies behind you in the fight for better policing of Vancouver streets.
