Samantha Harris, 9, watches the snow fall outside her family's Ladner home on a recent day. She has been a member of the War Amps' Child Amputee (CHAMP) program since she was born missing her left arm from below the elbow because of a congenital birth defect. The program helps families pay for specialized artificial limbs, which sometimes don't last long as kids go through growth spurts in their youth.
